Running frequency, distance, speed, hills and terrain all affect demand. A new strength routine, long days on your feet and limited recovery can sit alongside the formal training plan.

When an injury appears, compare recent weeks with what was previously routine. The answer may be to change the hardest session, space runs differently or hold a manageable level while capacity catches up. There is no universal safe mileage threshold or progression percentage.

WHEN TO GET HELP

If pain is focal, worsening or affecting normal walking, assess the problem rather than treating it as simple overload.
