Your foot works with the calf, ankle and the rest of the leg to manage each step. A programme might include foot or ankle work when assessment identifies a relevant capacity gap, but there is no single exercise that prevents every running injury.
Progressive loading is more helpful than a long list of drills with no connection to your symptoms. The plan should also address running volume, terrain, footwear and the demands you want to return to. Forefoot or heel pain needs its own assessment before being labelled a “weak foot”.
WHEN TO GET HELP
If pain is focal, swelling is present or walking is affected, have the foot assessed.
